Counselor's Corner

Our students Menifee Central participate in a wide range of school counseling services that are developmentally appropriate for each grade level, and are generally preventative in nature.  My goal as the counselor is to promote and enhance student learning by providing the following services:

 

Guidance Curriculum:

  • Friendships skills
  • Organization/study skills
  • Self esteem/feelings
  • Character building
  • Social skill development
  • Communication skills
  • Career/life skills (cooperation, attention, listening)
  • Bully Prevention 

Responsive Services:

  • Small group counseling
  • Short term individual counseling
  • Student/parent/staff crises
  • Consultation /support to parents/staff
  • Consultation/collaboration with community agencies
  • Mandated reporting
  • Crisis intervention for students
  • Dealing with school/community wide crisis

Individual Planning:

  • Individual student goal setting
  • Placement and orientation for new students
  • Sending/receiving/analyzing school records, pertinent information
  • End of year student placement
  • Transition planning between schools
  • Chairing and monitoring Section 504 process
  • Chairing Individual Education Plan Team meetings

System Support:

  • State and District testing management for the school
  • Serving on school and district committees
  • Participation in professional organizations
  • Professional development to upgrade current knowledge and skills
