MCHS celebrated our Attendance Award and a  Pep Rally on April 3rd!

The day was filled with fun, including a student volleyball tournament where our seniors came out on top—defeating not only their classmates but also the staff's volleyball team! Attendance drawings were held throughout the day, and a big congratulations to our senior, Caleb Masters, for winning the Xbox! Students also competed in several pep rally contests, showing off their school spirit. The senior class earned the most points and was crowned the overall winner of the rally! 🏆

We also recognized Scottie Simpkins for creating our Kindness Club and helping promote positivity throughout our school. 💙

Great job to all of our students and staff who made this a memorable day at MCHS!

Exploring Geometry in Action: Ms. Nickells’ and Ms. Newton’s Classes
Hannah Ferguson

Students in Ms. Nickells’ and Ms. Newton’s Geometry classes are actively exploring some exciting concepts this semester! In class, students are learning to use the tangent ratio and inverse tangent to find side lengths and angle measures in right triangles. They are also applying the Pythagorean Theorem to figure out missing sides and determine if a triangle has a right angle.

Learning in these classes is hands-on and interactive, with students using High-Quality Instructional Resources (HQIR) to guide their problem-solving. Students model problems on the board, work together to solve challenging questions, and explain their thinking to peers. Technology tools like Desmos help students solve problems, making abstract concepts easier to understand.

Classroom activities also encourage creativity and risk-taking. Students who need extra support receive guidance, while everyone participates in discussions and problem-solving. Bell ringers and quick checks help students practice new skills and ensure they’re applying what they’ve learned in real time.
